PATTH

The team arrived back to Iowa last night. There are new friendships in the states and Honduras. Many tears as we said goodbye to our Honduran friends who were so supportive.

More than one patient told us they can't afford their medications. It's only through the medical brigades that they get meds. We are often asked if we can make a difference only being there a week. Yes, we do! Honduras has 47% unemployment. That statistic leads to a lot of hopelessness.

An education system in which the teachers basically have no support from the government. Through a generous donation, five schools were given lesson books. Teachers were given school supplies too. Praying and listening to depressed patients to let them know someone cared. There are no mental health resources in the country.

While visiting patients in the Senior Ministry, the physical therapists showed 2 families ways to strengthen their parents ability to stand and sit by giving them exercises to do daily. Sewing and crocheting was taught to anyone interested at Baluarte Church. Two team members planned these activities and brought sewing machines. Skills they can continue to use. Playing soccer, painting nails and blowing bubbles was done day after day with children.

The laughter and enthusiasm was contagious! We praise God for using us as his hands and feet!
